About Paul Ippolito

Paul Ippolito is an Australian wine writer based in Sydney. 

Since obtaining his credentials in the early 1990’s, Paul has enjoyed conveying his passion and consummate knowledge for wine to all around him.

Paul’s earliest recollection of wine began with a childhood initiation of homemade wine at the dinner table, made available by way of a subtle dash of it into his lemonade. Whether it was the fact that wine was always near at hand throughout his upbringing or the potency of that original homemade stuff, Paul didn’t drink this wine stuff much again until his mid twenties. Around this time, Paul started dining out at restaurants, something that sparked an interest in Australian wine. This time he was well and truly hooked and this led to the embarking of a passionate affair with wine that has flourished everyday since. 

For quite a few years now Paul has been sharing his love of wine by writing about it and is one of the more recognised names in wine writing in Australia, particularly because of his writing on the internet, but also through his writing over the years for a range of metropolitan, rural, regional, national as well as international publications.

Paul has also spoke about wine on radio and has been a panelist at Wine Australia, Australia's national exhibition on wine. From 2004 until December 2006, he also wrote a free newsletter called “Paul Ippolito Talks Wine” which was distributed to wine lovers throughout the world.

Juggling a career as a lawyer as well, Paul Ippolito enjoys tasting and writing about wine. This website is a chronicle of his wine experiences.
