Sometimes It's The Small Things

Ten minutes into a strategy session, a small, uncomplicated issue demonstrated just how valuable a fresh perspective on a law practice can be.

It's nice to be able to justify the value of your fee within the first few minutes of a strategy session.

That happened recently.

About ten minutes into a session, we identified a relatively small, straightforward issue that the solicitor running the practice hadn't picked up on.

Addressing it would save them the equivalent of the entire advisory fee.

It's a good feeling when that happens. Not even 10 minutes in!

And it happens more often than you might think.

When you're running your own law practice, there's a lot going on.

Sometimes you're simply too close to the business to see what's right in front of you.

Other times, you're so busy dealing with what you think are the problems that you miss something else entirely.

That's the value of a fresh pair of eyes and a practical second opinion.

Often, the real issues aren't the ones you initially thought needed attention.

And they're not always particularly complicated to fix.

The important thing is being able to identify what's actually going on, distinguish the urgent from the unimportant, and work out what needs to happen next.

Good advice doesn't need to be complicated.

It just needs to make a difference.

And sometimes, that difference becomes apparent in the first ten minutes.
